COMMENTS:

In the frontal impact the head and neck were well protected. The driver’s chest showed marginal protection from the restraint systems. The passenger head was well protected. There were hazardous structures in the area of the facia that could be impacted by an the driver and front passenger knees. The footwell area was intact after the impact. The vehicle cell was rated as stable during the impact.

COMMENTS:

The child seat for the 3 year old dummy showed fracturing due to the loading so there was head contact on the rear of the driver seat. The head and chest acceleration was over the lower performance limit. The 1 1/2 year old showed marginal to poor protection, the chest area was loaded high. In the rebound phase the dummy hit the headrest with its head. The installation instructions on both child seats were insufficient and not permanently attached to the seat. The Rearword facing CRS contacted the female buckle and opened its housing.
